Press Releases Luncheon on Regional Bond Markets:
Rationale, Concerns and Roadmap

on behalf of the Hong Kong Committee for Pacific Economic Cooperation:
The Hong Kong Committee
for Pacific Economic Cooperation (HKCPEC) will organize a luncheon on "Regional
Bond Markets: Rationale, Concerns and Roadmap" at 12:30 p.m. - 2:00 p.m.
on Tuesday (March 23) at Hennessy Room, Level 7, Conrad Hong Kong.
This luncheon is an invitation
only event with up to 50 selected participants from the banking and investment
sector, the academic field and the government.
Dr. Ghon Rhee, K. J. Luke
Distinguished Professor of International Finance and Banking, University of
Hawaii, will be the guest speaker of the luncheon. Dr. Rhee is also the Executive
Director of the Asia-Pacific Financial Markets Research Center at the University
of Hawaii and the Editor of the Pacific-Basin Finance Journal.
The HKCPEC was established
in March 1990 to co-ordinate Hong Kong's participation in the Pacific Economic
Cooperation Council (PECC).
The Committee, in line with
the nature of the PECC, is tripartite, comprising members from the government,
academic and business sectors. The current Chairman for HKCPEC is Prof. Edward
Chen, G.B.S., JP, President of Lingnan University.
PECC is a non-governmental
organisation set up in 1980 with the purpose of developing closer cooperation
among economies in the region in trade and economic policy issues. Currently,
PECC has a total of 25 member committees including Hong Kong, China.
